The Ancient Town of Scarbantia
We visit the underground exhibition places of Sopron where the town – founded in the 1st century – opens. Our walk begins in the Forum Museum, which was the main square of the Roman town then we continue the walk in the Kolostor Street via the Iseum. The Egyptian mother goddess Isis, symbol of femineity and loyalty came to Sopron with the conquests. The walk then leads to the Fire Tower where we visit the Roman town walls, and then we have a sight into the Roman religious beliefs in the Roman Lapidary of the Fabricius House. Here we can meet the main gods Jupiter, Juno and Minerva and learn the story of Mithras, the sun god as well.
