About us

The mission of the Sopron Museum is to collect, process, conserve, research and present the cultural heritage of the former historic Sopron County in a high scientific standard and to present it in an accessible and enjoyable way. In addition to a number of exhibition sites (Lenck Villa, the Central Mining Museum, the Cobbles Children's Museum, the Apothecary House, the Baker's House, the Ozsina Gorge, 17th-18th century tombs, the Foot House), the Museum Quarter, the central complex of buildings on the Main Square, opened in 2023, with 10 exhibitions and a number of visitor experience areas.
The diversity of our exhibition spaces is reflected in the many special events we have hosted. We plan our programs to cater for all ages. We want the museum to be a place where visitors feel welcome to come and visit, whatever the occasion.

Access and parking

The majority of the Sopron Museum's exhibition spaces are located in the historic city centre and do not have their own parking. They are easily accessible on foot from the public pay car parks and from the city underground car park.

Food and drink

Food and drink are not allowed in the exhibition halls of the Sopron Museum. In the Museum Quarter, there is a vending machine in the room next to the lobby, in case you get thirsty during your walk through the museum. In the Lenck Villa, you can sample seasonal picnic baskets from the region's producers. Curl up on a deckchair or a blanket, or play a good game of board games with friends. For more information about the picnic basket, visit the Lenck Villa website.

Museum Shop

After visiting our exhibitions, take home a little souvenir! In addition to the traditional museum hits, you can also find products from Sopron businesses and craftsmen. People from Sopron can visit the museum shops at any time, without having to buy a ticket.
